3 Long Weekends in 3 Different Countries

Month of August and September in 2018 is really happy month for me, because there's lot of public holidays for long weekends in Malaysia. And I don't waste it at all by having travel to Brunei, Indonesia, and Philippines on 3 weekends in a row.

Here's quick recap of the journey:
  • Brunei: 31 Aug to 2 Sep (Merdeka day on 31 Aug)
    • Day 1: Roaming around Bandar Seri Bagawan, friday prayer at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, hire local boat to go to Kampung Ayer a.k.a. water village, visit Royal Regalia museum. Visit Masjid Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah that really grand, and enjoy local food at Gadong Night Market.

    • Day 2: full day at Ulu Temburong National Park to go to canopy walk tower 60 meters above the ground with Borneo rainforest as background. It was really has strong wind and hanging cloudy behind me ready to pour rain. I can't hide my "worried" face there.

    • Day 3: jogging to their Independence Square, lucky us there's event of Hari Belia Kebangsaan there. So we just enjoy the activities and have some local food.
  • Indonesia: 7 Sep to 11 Sep (Agong's birthday holiday on 10 Sep, Awal muharram on 11 Sep)
    • Basically I just want to back home and on Saturday I decided to go to Bromo with my nephew to enjoy sunrise and the crater. I love the view here, because we have awesome sunrise experience due to clear sky.

  • Philippines: 15 Sep to 18 Sep (Malaysia day on 16 Sep, annual leave on 17 Sep)
    • Day 1: our flight was delayed for 5 hours due to super Mangkhut Typhoon that hit Philippines. So day one is just gone.
    • Day 2: explore Intramuros: Rizal Monument, Fort Santiago, view sunday mass at Manila Cathedral, Plaza Roma, San Agustin Church, Binondo Church. And at night time went to local night market nearby hotel.

    • Day 3: hiking at Mount Maculot with amazing view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano.
    • Day 4: shopping for snacks and fly back to KL.
Another bucket list in ASEAN countries that I never visit, and plan to visit next: Laos and Myanmar.
